Nuzhat Khan is a Public Health Professional with over thirty years of experience in developing and Evaluating Public Health Programs for the government of Pakistan. Her special area of expertise in Infectious Diseases facilitated her to examine the state of Infectious waste management in the state-run hospitals in the country, identifying needs, establishing SOPs and recommendations for final disposal in all major hospitals of Punjab (a province of population of 120 million). Learnings from this mega project diverted her interest to urban waste management which was almost a decade back. SMSP project was an opportunity for her to start working at the grass root level and apply her knowledge to develop a SWM project to be replicated later into a larger plan that helps comprise a cleaner /healthier environment and to act as Model project aiming to play its part in mitigation activities towards reduction of Global warming.
